The Book Club will discuss Becoming George Sand by Rosalind Brackenbury on Wednesday, February 8, at 7 p.m. In anticipation of Valentine’s Day, we are reading a novel about passionate, life-changing love. French literature professor Maria Jameson begins an affair with a young Irishman and immerses herself in research on nineteenth-century writer George Sand. A journey to Majorca becomes a turning point for Maria - just as it was for Sand and her lover, composer Frédéric Chopin. The book discussion is free and open to the public.
