On Wednesday, March 27, at 7 p.m., the Library will host a program presented by the Mashantucket Pequot Museum & Research Center. Join Dr. Kevin McBride, Director of Research, as he shares the latest findings from archeological surveys of battlefield sites at Porter’s Rocks (2010-2011), Pequot Hill (2010-2011) and Pequot Woods (2011-2012). This multi-year “Battlefields of the Pequot War” project is supported by the National Park Service American Battlefield Protection Program and the University of Connecticut. The project goals are to identify and preserve battlefields and historical sites associated with the Pequot War (1636-1637).
Dr. McBride and his research team are excited to share new historical and archeological insights about the Battle of Mistick Fort. This public program will be the first time Dr. McBride will present archeological findings from the forgotten “Pequot Woods Fight.” For more information about the “Battlefields of the Pequot War” project, please visit their website at www.pequotwar.org or call (860)396-6868.
