Fire Breaks Out At Groton Laundromat
A fire caused significant damage to a Groton laundromat overnight.
GROTON, CT — Firefighters battled a blaze at a laundromat early Wednesday morning. Police responded to a call and reported smoke coming from a building on Long Hill Road, according to a Facebook post from the Poquonnock Bridge Professional Firefighters Local 2704.
Firefighters arrived and found an active fire. They transmitted a first alarm to bring in mutual aid.
The fire was at the Super Saver Free Dry Laundromat, according to WTNH News-8. Crews arrived and found flames coming from a commercial dryer. The blaze had resulted in significant damage prior to firefighters arriving.

Other departments responding included Submarine Base Firefighters Local F-219, New London Firefighters, IAFF Local 1522, City of Groton Firefighters Union, Old Mystic Fire Department, Groton Ambulance, and Town of Groton Police Department.
The fire marshal's office is investigating.
