Fire Damages Groton Home; 1 Hospitalized

A home was damaged and one person was transported to the hospital for evaluation in a fire Monday morning.

GROTON, CT -- A home was damaged and one person was transported to the hospital in a fire Monday morning. City of Groton firefighters responded to a report of a house fire on Benham Road in the area of Nicholas Avenue at 10:30 a.m., according to a firefighters union Facebook post.

Most of the damage was on the home's second floor. Other departments assisting in extinguishing the fire included Electric Boat FD, Poquonnock Bridge FD, Sub Base FD, Old Mystic FD, Groton Ambulance, L&M Paramedics, Groton City Police, Groton Utilities, and Noank FD as a cover company.
