Fire Rips Through Mystic Mobile Home: Police

A fire damaged a mobile home in the Mystic section of Groton on Wednesday evening.

GROTON, CT — A fire ripped through a mobile home in the Mystic section of Groton on Wednesday evening, according to police. The Groton Emergency Communication Center received a 911 call at 5:45 p.m. reporting a fire at 435 High St., lot 36.

The single-family, one-level mobile home was unoccupied at the time of the fire. A neighbor saw smoke coming from the top of the trailer and called 911. The neighbor was also able to rescue a dog and a cat from the home.

Groton Town police and fire personnel from the Old Mystic, Mystic, and Poquonnock Bridge fire departments responded.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze, but the home was deemed uninhabitable due to fire and smoke damage.

No injuries were reported, and the home was unoccupied at the time of the fire. One person was displaced by the fire, and the Red Cross responded to assist.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by fire investigators from the Groton Town Police

Department and the Old Mystic Fire Department.
