Former Groton Sailor Pardoned By Trump Sues Obama, Others

The former sailor sentenced to prison for taking pictures of a classified area in a nuclear submarine is suing Barack Obama and others.

GROTON, CT — A former U.S. Navy sailor who was sentenced to prison for taking pictures of a submarine is now suing former President Barack Obama, former FBI Director James Comey and others after he was pardoned by President Donald Trump.

Kristian Saucier took pictures of a nuclear submarine's propulsion system. He pleaded guilty to one count of unauthorized possession and retention of national defense information. He was sentenced to a year in federal prison followed by three years of supervised release.

Saucier alleges in his self-filed lawsuit that other sailors committed similar violations, but weren't criminally charged or discharged from service, according to the Hartford Courant. He claims that a double standard exists that protected Hillary Clinton, but not him.
