Get Out: Five Great Things To Do This Weekend

Because It's No Fun To Stay Home All Weekend

Memorial Day weekend is finally here, and we have all the fixings to make it great. Sorry, we’re not coming over to man the grill. And we’re definitely not braving your jam-packed attic to dig out your summer gear. But we are providing with you with five great events going on this weekend that we definitely don’t think you should miss.

1. 

WHERE/WHEN: Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Mystic Aquarium.

WHY GO: Hands-on activities and other special programs will help your little ones celebrate the Sound!

PRICING: Included in aquarium admission.

2. 

WHERE/WHEN: Saturday through Monday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. under the Boat Shed.

WHY GO: Have you had lobster yet this year? Didn’t think so.

PRICING: Combo tickets, which include museum admission, are $39 for adults, $32 for kids and $37 for seniors. Single lobster dinner is $21, twin lobster dinner is $37 and twin hot dog dinner is $7. Proceeds support the Rotary Club of Mystic’s community projects.

3. 

WHERE/WHEN: Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Coast Guard Academy’s Leamy Hall.

WHY GO: Take a break from stuffing your face with hamburgers and hot dogs!

PRICING: Free, no tickets required. 

4. 

WHERE/WHEN: The Noank parade begins at Noank Park at 10 a.m. on Monday, stops by the cemetery at 10:30 a.m. and concludes at the Veterans' Memorial. The Mystic parade is Monday at 2 p.m. beginning at Bank Square, heading down Route 1 and concluding at the VFW.

WHY GO: Gotta love that red, white and blue!

PRICING: Free.

5. 

WHERE/WHEN: Meet at Mr. G’s Restaurant in New London on Monday at 3 p.m.

WHY GO: You’ll ride over the Gold Star Bridge, by the Submarine Veteran’s Memorial and Fort Griswold and feel a little less guilty about all those burgers you had over the weekend.
