Groton To Ban Smoking Marijuana In City Parks, Rec Areas: Report

The city council has given initial approval to a smoking ban for parks and recreational areas.

GROTON, CT — The City of Groton has banned smoking marijuana in city parks and recreational areas, according to WTNH News-8. A city ordinance had previously banned smoking on Eastern Point Beach and its parking lot; the new ordinance expands that to include cannabis products and vaping.

Groton received initial council approval for the ban and is seeking public input. Several other cities are considering similar bans.

Connecticut began legalized recreational marijuana sales Jan. 10.
