The single most pressing issue facing our town/district is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it.
The current most pressing issue is the immediate economic windfall due to expanded work at Electric Boat. This is a gift to Groton that must not be squandered. I intend to create a long term plan for the town of Groton, that sets us up to maximize the near-future potential we are walking into. We must continue to prop up the other industries in the area, and effectively advertise Groton, not just for economic development, but for people to work, live, and play here. We have amazing parks, green space, and coastal access that we must support and protect. Our long term plan will include preparations for any economic recessions or large storms that could come unexpectedly. We must not be pulled into self-interests based on the latest memes, and focus on a better future and set us on a path to get us there. It was not long ago that the entire area was a thriving place, and we can get there again. And last but not least, we must support the vulnerable elderly whose shoulders carried us to where we are now.
What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
Everyone running wants to improve Groton. We all have our own ideas on how to do that, but the end goal is the same. I continually remind myself that, and I will not be pressured by outside sources to drift that focus. The only way Groton will succeed is if we all work together. Everyone in this town regardless of party. We must keep the vision of a better future from distractions of personal squabbles. I will do everything in my power to keep fighting and pushing forward to ensure a better future for all residents in Groton.
