Groton High School Student Arrested On Threatening Charges: Police
A student from New London at Ella T. Grasso Technical High School is accused of making threats after he was asked to leave the building.
GROTON, CT — An Ella T. Grasso Technical High School student is accused of making threats and was taken into police custody Tuesday afternoon.
State police Troop E responded to the report of a potential threat at the school. A teacher had asked Deveon Belk, 19, of New London, part of the school's adult apprenticeship program, to leave the building at 2:05 p.m., according to police.
As Belk was leaving, he allegedly made threatening statements, saying that he would come back and shoot up the school, police said.

The school resource officer was notified and the school was placed in lockdown. Troopers and Groton Town police officers remained at the high school during afternoon dismissal.
Police found Belk unarmed and took him into custody. He was charged with first-degree threatening and second-degree breach of peace.

He was released after posting $20,000 cash/surety bond. He is scheduled to appear in court Dec. 6.
