Groton Hosting Shore Up CT Loan Program Meeting
The meeting will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 24.

The Town of Groton will host an informational meeting for the public at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, at the Groton Public Library Meeting Room 1, 52 Newtown Road (Route 117), Groton, on the state’s new Shore Up CT loan program.
The town of Groton shared the following information on its page:
Shore Up CT is funded through the Connecticut Department of Housing and provides low interest financing for property owners in coastal municipalities located in Flood Zones VE and AE, as defined by Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), to finance or refinance property elevations or retrofitting for flood protection and wind proofing activities.

This state program is administered by the Housing Development Fund (HDF) which is a non-profit Community Development Financial Institution located in Stamford.
Representatives from HDF will be present to provide information about the program’s goals and clarify project requirements and guidelines as well as answer questions.

Shore Up CT is one of the first programs of its kind in the country to provide state-revolving loan funds to assist in the ongoing Irene and Sandy recovery process and prepare the Connecticut coast’s built environment for future storms.
Homeowners who wish to find out more information about Shore Up CT can visit www.shoreupct.org. Applications for this program can be submitted at any time with no current deadline for submittal.
