Groton Man Arrested On Firearm Charges Following Foot Chase: New London Police

A New London and a Groton resident have been charged by police. A male juvenile was also charged.

NEW LONDON, CT — Police said they arrested two men on firearm charges following a foot pursuit.

At 4:54 p.m. on Tuesday, officers responded to the area of Laurel Drive and Colman Street in New London for a report of suspicious individuals, police said. Upon arrival, officers attempted to contact a small group of men, police said.

As officers approached, the individuals fled on foot. Following a brief foot pursuit, officers successfully stopped and detained some of the individuals initially observed, police said. A subsequent investigation revealed that two of the detained individuals were in possession of firearms, police added.

The following arrests were made:

Jamir Mueller, 20, of New London, CT, was arrested and charged with

  • Carrying a Pistol Without a Permit
  • Illegal Possession of a Large Capacity Magazine
  • Interference with an Officer

Joel Woodhall, 20, of Groton, CT, was arrested and charged with

  • Carrying a Pistol Without a Permit
  • Illegal Possession of a Large Capacity Magazine
  • Criminal Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
  • Illegal Discharge/Operation of a Firearm
  • Criminal Possession of Ammunition

Additionally, a male juvenile was taken into custody and charged with interference with an officer. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
