Groton Police Arrest Man for $25,000 Worth of Unauthorized Credit Card Purchases: Report
By taking out seven credit cards in a relative's name, the man was able to make unauthorized purchases.

GROTON, CT- A Niantic man was arrested Tuesday on charges of making thousands of dollars worth of unauthorized credit card purchases, The Day reported.
Police said Matthew Salen, 35, opened multiple credit cards in a relative’s name and made more than $25,000 worth of purchases, according to The Day. He was arrested on a number of charges, including credit card fraud and criminal impersonation, and was given a July 19 court date.
The investigation goes back to November 2015, when Groton Police received complaints of unauthorized credit card purchases between August and October of that year that amounted to $29, 951.56, as reported by The Day. Only about $4,300 of those charges were authorized, according to police.
