Victim ID Released in Fatal Shooting Near Bar in Groton, Police Release Suspect's Photo: UPDATE
Police say they have obtained an arrest warrant for the suspect, who should be considered "armed and dangerous."

GROTON, CT — Groton Police have announced that they have identified a suspect in the Sunday morning shooting death of Joseph Gingerella, 24, of Groton.
Police said they have identified the suspect to be Dante Hughes, 30 of Groton and have obtained an arrest warrant for Hughes. Police stress that Hughes should be considered armed and dangerous. Police ask if you have any information as to his whereabouts to please contact them.
Police said at 1:36 a.m. Groton Town Police received a report of shots fired in the area of “Ryan’s Pub,” 112 Fort Hill Road in Groton. Patrol officers arrived a short time later and located a lone male victim in the parking lot, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, police said.

The victim was treated at the scene by Groton Ambulance and Poquonnock Bridge Fire Department Personnel. He was transported to L & M Hospital in New London where he was pronounced dead, police said.
The victim has been identified as Joseph Gingerella, 24 of Groton, police said. This incident is being investigated by Detectives from the Groton Town Police Department, with assistance from the Connecticut State Police Eastern District Major Crime Squad and the New London County State’s Attorney’s Office.

As a result of investigative efforts, detectives identified a suspect and obtained an arrest warrant for Dante Hughes, 30 of Groton for the charge of murder, police said.
Hughes is a 30 year-old black male, 5’11” tall, 150 pounds, black hair, and brown eyes, police said in a news release.
Detectives are currently attempting to locate Hughes, police said. Hughes should be considered armed and dangerous and anyone who sees Hughes should not confront him, they should call 911 immediately, police said.
Detectives are actively pursuing leads in this case and anyone with information on this investigation or regarding Hughes’ whereabouts, are asked to contact the Groton Town Police Department 860-441-6712.

GROTON, CT — Groton police are investigating a homicide near a local pub, police said Sunday.
At 1:36 a.m. Sunday Groton Town Police received a report of shots fired in the area of “Ryan’s Pub,” 112 Fort Hill Road in Groton, police said in a news release.
Patrol officers arrived a short time later and located a lone male victim in the parking lot, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, police said.
The victim was treated at the scene by Groton Ambulance and Poquonnock Bridge Fire Department Personnel and transported to L & M Hospital in New London where he was pronounced dead, police said.
The victim is not being identified at this time pending notification of next of kin, police said.
This incident is being investigated by Detectives from the Groton Town Police Department, with assistance from the Connecticut State Police Eastern District Major Crime Squad and the New London County State’s Attorney’s Office, police said.
