GROTON, CT — A Groton police officer recently took time to read one of his favorite children's books to students at Northeast Elementary Academy after receiving an invitation from the school's administration and teachers.
It wasn't a far trip for Nick Socha, who "routinely and happily" spends time at the school as part of the Town of Groton Police Department's "Every School Every Day" initiative, which is police said is welcomed by the school's administration as a partnership between the town's schools and the police department.
"[Officer] Socha, a product of Groton schools himself, says the best part of his day on shift is spending time with the students and teachers at Northeast Academy," police said on Facebook.
