UPDATE: Groton Police on Scene at Naval Submarine Base
An incident with pepper spray occurred near the main gate.

Update, 10:15 p.m.
According to The Day, a man allegedly took out a knife near the main gate of the Naval Submarine Base New London. A civilian police officer reportedly shot his gun at the man and two other officers were struck by ricocheting bullets. The two officers were transported to the hospital.
The suspect was handed over to Groton police and taken to a local hospital for evaluation. Click here to view the full report from The Day.

NBC Connecticut is reporting that shots were fired by personnel at Naval Submarine Base New London.

Groton police are on scene at Naval Submarine Base New London after pepper spray was sprayed, NBC Connecticut reports.
Early reports mentioned gunfire but that is not believed to be the case.
