Groton Public Works Resurfacing Brook Street
Here is what you need to know about the project.

The town of Groton Public Works Department will be resurfacing Brook Street between Route 215 and Elm Street. This project was scheduled to begin on September 29, 2014 and completion is expected within 14 days. Traffic delays should be minimal if any.

Phase 1: Contractor will reclaim (grind up) the existing asphalt to provide a good paving surface. Catch basins and sewer manholes may be exposed but will be painted bright orange for visibility during this process. Hay bales will be placed to controls surface water and prevent erosion.
Phase 2: After “reclamation” and grading, Public Works Roads & Streets personnel will apply two layers of asphalt onto the street surface.

Phase 3: Once resurfacing is completed, Roads & Streets personnel will return to install asphalt curbing and resurface some asphalt driveway aprons that were removed.
Phase 4: Where needed, crews will backfill the area between the pavement (or curbing) and existing lawns with loam. Then they will hydro-seed the area with grass seed, fertilizer and mulch.
