Groton Sailor Charged With Risk Of Injury To A Minor: Police

A Groton sailor was arrested on charges that he had sex with a middle school student.

GROTON, CT - A sailor based at the Naval Sub Base in Groton was arrested on charges that he had a sexual relationship with a middle school boy he met using the Grindr app, according to police. Chazzman Chung, 27, was charged with risk of injury to a child and enticing a minor by computer.

Chung is alleged to have taken the boy to the sub base while the boy was home sick from school in Griswold. He then sexually assaulted the boy in the Navy barracks, according to police.

Based on a warrant police obtained in federal court, an investigation was conducted by Naval Criminal Investigative Services.

He was held on $100,000 bond and will appear in Norwich Superior Court April 18.
