Groton School Construction Proposal Draws Different Opinions from 41st District Candidates

Both candidates did not see eye to eye on Groton's proposed school construction plan.

GROTON, CT – Two candidates for the legislature’s 41st District House seat have expressed different views on a couple of issues, The Day reported.

Democrat Joseph De la Cruz and Republican incumbent Aundre Bumgardner expressed different views on how to deal with the state budget issues at an event Tuesday, according to The Day. Both also did not see eye to eye on Groton’s proposed school construction plan.

The school construction plan, estimated at $184 million, was not supported by Bumgardner as he does not think taxpayers will be able to afford it, The Day reported. De la Cruz meanwhile felt the cost of building later will only increase as more students begin to leave the schools.
