Groton Shooting Suspects Sought by Police

Police reported a shooting took place in the early morning hours of Saturday, Feb. 14.

The following information was released by Lt. John W. Varone, Detective Commander with the Groton Town Police Department, and shared on the Waterford Police Department’s Facebook page.

The Groton Town Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred in the area of 403 Route 12, Groton.

The shooting occurred at approximately 3 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 14. The victim is a 21-year-old male, who was driving in his car when the shooting occurred.

The victim was driven by friends to the Fire Department of New London, Broad Street Station, where he was treated by the firefighters and then transported to Lawrence and Memorial Hospital. The victim was suffering from a single gunshot wound to the back. It is not life threatening.

The Groton Town Police are looking for three suspects. Police obtained surveillance video of three suspects. Photographs are above.

  • The first suspect is a Hispanic male, mid 20s. He was wearing a red ball cap and red sweatshirt with “BASE” on the front.
  • The second suspect is a Hispanic male, mid 20s, with a goatee on his chin. He was wearing a black puffy coat, with a white zipper and a white baseball cap.
  • The third suspect is a black male with long, dreadlocked hair. He was wearing a multicolored baseball cap and a light colored vest.
