VP Harris Visits CT To Give Keynote Address At USCGA Commencement
Vice President Kamala Harris is speaking at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy's 141st commencement ceremony in New London.

NEW LONDON, CT — Vice President Kamala Harris visited Connecticut to give the keynote address at the United States Coast Guard Academy's (USCGA) 141st Graduation Ceremony. The event was held Wednesday at 11 a.m.
Bluff Point State Park in Groton was closed Wednesday due to Harris' visit to the state, according to NBC CT. The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Emergency Dispatch Center said the park is currently closed.
A USCGA official said told NBC CT that "security is tight for the vice president." The academy has spent months planning for the ceremony.

The 2022 graduating class is the largest in the academy's history, with 252 cadets walking across the stage Wednesday.
Harris will tell cadets in her speech that they are starting their service at a crucial time when "the rule of law is strained" and "fundamental principles are under threat," according to ABC News.
