Groton Student's Threat Prompts Investigation by Police, State Troopers, Coast Guard Police

Troopers said they received complaints that a student had made a threatening statement, implying harm to others.

GROTON, CT – State police said they initiated an investigation after juvenile made concerning threats to another student.

Troopers received a complaint from the Marine Science School in Groton on Wednesday at approximately 9 p.m. that a student had made a statement to another student, and implied others would be harmed. Police said the statement was also posted on Instagram.

An investigation was launched and the juvenile suspect was later identified. The suspect was found at his residence in Lisbon. Investigators determined although he had implied harm, the suspect did not have the means to carry out the threat.

The suspect was issued a Juvenile Summons for Threatening and Harassment, and is scheduled to appear in Waterford Juvenile Court.

These findings were the result of a combined investigation between state troopers, Groton City Police and the U.S. Coast Guard Police due to jurisdiction.
