Groton Sub Base Reinstitutes Stricter COVID-19 Protocols
The implementation of stricter rules comes as the Delta variant has caused an increase in cases and hospitalizations.
GROTON, CT — The Navy's submarine base will bring back stricter COVID-19 measures as the Delta variant fuels an increase in infection rates in the state, according to The Hartford Courant. Submarine Base New London changed its protocols to limit gatherings in the gymnasium for events as well as closing racquetball courts and making the swimming pool open by appointment only.
Mask requirements are still in effect at the base clinic, child development and youth centers and for those who aren’t fully vaccinated, according to The Hartford Courant.
The news comes as hospitalizations due to COVID-19 increased to over 100 for the first time in two months.
