Groton Town Manager Finalist For Job In Illinois: Report

Groton's town manager has been named as a finalist for a city administrator position in Illinois.

GROTON, CT — Groton Town Manager John Burt has been named as a finalist for a job in Illinois less than a year after taking on the role, the New London Day reported. Burt was hired last May to take over following the retirement of longtime Groton Town Manager Mark Oefinger.

According to the Day, Burt is one of four finalists for a city administrator position in Urbana, Ill. He and the other finalists were chosen from a pool of 68 candidates.

Burt relocated from Michigan with his wife and kids last summer, according to the Day. Burt said moving from the Midwest has been a challenge for his family, however he would not leave unless the Urbana position was the right fit for them.
