Groton Woman Pleads Guilty to Stealing More than $40,000 from Stepmother
A Groton woman has plead guilty to embezzling more than $40,000 from her stepmother.

GROTON, CT - A Groton woman will receive probation for stealing money from her stepmother, the New London Day reported. Police said she is charged with embezzling more than $40,000 from the victim.
Cheryl Galvin, 54, pleaded guilty in court Thursday to charges of larceny, according to the New London Day. She will be sentenced in July to five years probation, and will likely also be ordered to repay her stepmother. (To sign up for Groton breaking news alerts and more, click here.)
Court officials said Galvin allegedly embezzled the victim’s money after being appointed to handle the older woman’s finances in 2012, the New London Day reported. The suspect pleaded guilty under the Alford Doctrine.
