Kindergarten Registration, Magnet Lottery Open For Groton Schools

GROTON, CT — Groton Public Schools kindergarten registration for the 2026–2027 school year is now open.

Groton families with a child who will be five years old on or before Sept. 1 may begin kindergarten at the start of next school year and are encouraged to register by the end of March, according to a district statement.

Families moving to Groton before the start of the next school year who have a child entering grades K–12 are also encouraged to complete the online registration form.

Parents/guardians can find the online registration and enrollment portal on the district website at www.grotonschools.org/kindergarten.

Families of students entering kindergarten through fifth grade are can also explore the district’s intra-district magnet schools, open to students who live within the boundaries of Groton Public Schools, according to the district.

Groton Public Schools offers five magnet-themed elementary schools, including Arts, Active Play and Exploration, Discovery, Environmental and Marine Science, and STEAM (STEM + Arts).

Those interested in a school other than their attendance-zoned school may apply for a seat by completing an online application, also available in the online enrollment portal, by March 31.

The district will conduct its intra-district magnet lottery in April.

At each magnet school, the district’s core academic curriculum is enriched through unique partnerships and programs that provide themed learning opportunities for students. All schools also offer district programs and services such as the Tree House Before and After Care Program.
