2 Suspects Struck Cruiser During Escape, Groton Police Say
Officers are searching for two men who fled while they were attempting to serve a warrant, according to police.
GROTON, CT — City of Groton police said there was a large police presence in the area of Pine Island Marina to Plant Street on Thursday morning.
Police were serving a warrant for the arrest of Jaiden Rivera, 18, of Groton, who was wanted in connection with a Ledyard incident in 2024.
Police located Rivera at a Shennecosset Road home and attempted to catch him when he was in the parking lot.

However, Rivera ignored the officers' attempts to take him into custody and left in a vehicle. He and another man fled, "deliberately" striking a police cruiser in the parking lot during the escape, police said.
It was unclear which of the two suspects was driving the vehicle.

After a large law enforcement response, police found the vehicle at the Bayberry Lane Boat launch, but were unable to find either suspect.
