Town officials said the lease for a longtime Groton restaurant​ has been extended.

GROTON, CT - Town officials said the lease for a longtime Groton restaurant has been extended, NBC Connecticut reported. The lease has been extended for the next five and half years, officials said.

The owners of Par 4 had been planning to close their doors for good on July 1, according to NBC Connecticut. The restaurant has been serving the community for approximately 30 years. (To sign up for Groton breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

Several petitions had been circulated to save the restaurant, with one garnering around 600 signatures, NBC Connecticut reported. The restaurant is located right off of the Shennecossett Golf Course.
