Ledyard Man Killed In Mystic Crash: Police

The 83-year-old struck a tree and was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital, police said.

GROTON, CT — A Ledyard man was killed in a weekend crash in Mystic, according to police.

The incident occurred shortly before 7:30 a.m. Saturday in the 100 block of Shewville Road, said Groton police, who received several 911 calls about the collision. Alexander Lunny, 83, was driving a Chevrolet Malibu south when it crossed into the north lane and hit a tree, according to police.

Lunny was taken to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead just after 8 a.m., police said. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call Groton police at 860-441-6712.
