Man Arrested In Groton Armed Bank Robbery Case: Police
A man is accused of handing a bank teller a note, brandishing a gun, and fleeing with cash last week, according to police.

GROTON, CT — Police have arrested a man following a bank robbery in Groton last week.
A robbery was reported at M&T Bank at 654 Long Hill Road around 3:12 p.m. Wednesday.
The suspect handed the teller a note, brandished a gun, and fled with an unknown amount of money, police said.

Miguel Garcia, 59, of Groton, was arrested following an "extensive investigation," police said.
Police identified him as a person of interest March 7. Police said they found "items of evidentiary value" in Garcia's possession. Police later obtained an arrest warrant and seized more items from Garcia's home and vehicle.

He was charged with sixth-degree larceny, first-degree robbery, second-degree larceny, third-degree threatening, second-degree breach of peace, and criminal possession of a firearm.
His bond was set at $450,000. Garcia was scheduled for arraignment at New London Superior Superior Court on Tuesday.

Town of Groton Police Chief Louis J. Fusaro Jr. called the arrest a result of "good old-fashioned detective work."
“This arrest is the result of exceptional work done by our patrol and detective divisions, and we appreciate the assistance provided by the public and a local business," Fusaro said in a statement.
