GROTON, CT — Panic erupted during several youth sporting events at Groton's Poquonnock Plains Park on Saturday when two men got into a fight and one went to his car to retrieve what spectators believed were two guns, police said.

Groton police responded to the park around 1 p.m. after receiving multiple 911 calls about a person with a possible gun. At the time, several games were being played in the park with hundreds of people in attendance, police said.

According to authorities, two unidentified men got into a physical fight on the sidelines of one of the games. Police said one of the men went to his car and retrieved what onlookers thought were two guns, causing players and spectators to flee the park.

Both men were located by police and taken into custody. Authorities confirmed no shots were fired during the incident.

It's unclear if the men will face charges. Police said their names would be released at a later time.
