Man Faces Numerous Gun, Drug Charges: Groton Police
A Norwich man is facing charges after police say they found him with an illegal gun and drugs packaged for sale.
GROTON, CT — A Norwich man is facing a litany of gun and drug charges after he was pulled over for driving erratically in Groton, according to police.
City of Groton police stopped Ramel D. Pires, 27, on Saturday at 3:48 a.m. The motor vehicle stop led to an investigation.
Officers said Pires appeared to be driving impaired. They searched his vehicle and found "drugs and contraband that were packaged for sale," along with an unregistered gun.

He was charged with criminal possession of a firearm, criminal possession of a firearm as a felon, illegal possession of a large capacity weapon, illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle, illegal carrying of firearm under the influence of drugs or alcohol, interfering with an officer, possession with intent to sell narcotics, illegal possession of cannabis, failure to drive in proper lane, disobeying the signal of an officer, and operation of a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol.
He was held on $150,000 bond and scheduled to appear in court Monday.
