GROTON, CT — At least three cats are dead following a fire at a Groton home Monday, according to The Day of New London.
Crews were dispatched to 1 Atlanta Ct. on Monday afternoon for a report of smoke in the living room, according to Poquonnock Bridge Professional Firefighters Local 2704.
Firefighters arrived at the one-story ranch to find smoke showing from the front door. All residents were out of the home when crews arrived.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze within 10 minutes.
No residents or first responders reported injuries.

However, firefighters found three dead cats, with two others unaccounted for, The Day reported.
The American Red Cross is assisting the family affected by the fire.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
