New Details Emerge On Opening Of National Retail Store In Groton
Construction is continuing on a spot where a national retailer is expected to move in soon, according to a report.
GROTON, CT — Progress is being made on a new TJ Maxx location in Groton. The store is moving to 925 Poquonnock Road at the Groton Shoppers Mart.
Employees at the existing store at 670 Long Hill Road told The Connecticut Scoop that the new store is expected to open in early May.
The existing location will close a few days before the new store opens.

In February, a deal was announced to bring the discount clothing retailer to the 24,000-square-foot space.

Previously, TJ Maxx had a store at the Poquonnock Road space before moving in 2003. Ocean State Job Lot took over the space before that store closed in 2024.

The plaza is anchored by Big Y and has a freestanding CVS. There are currently 17 tenants at the plaza and new ownership is "investing in large capital improvement plan in 2025," according to a real estate listing for the plaza.
This includes facade improvements, parking lot resurfacing, and signage upgrades.
There are two retail spaces available for least at the site as well, according to an Atlantic Retail listing.
