New Policy Allows More Liberal Use of Cellphones in Groton Schools
The policy approved by the Board of Education will let students use cellphones when directed by the teacher.

A policy approved unanimously by the Board of Education this week will allow students in Groton Public Schools to use their cellphones in certain situations, the Day of New London reports.
Students would be allowed to use electronic communication devices in case of an emergency, if the teacher gives permission or if the device is part of a special education plan, the paper reports.
Officials said the move was necessary to adapt to the needs of the 21st century and would teach students how to use the devices responsibly.
