Noank Strong Memorial Day Rally Coming Up

Participants will decorate their cars for the event.

GROTON, CT — The Noank Strong Memorial Day Rally will be held May 23 at 1 p.m.

"Decorate your car! Get ready to ride around Noank Village with your neighbors," organizers said.

Rally colors for the event are red, white, and blue. Rally symbols include anchors, hearts, American flags. Rally themes include Noank Strong; this too shall pass; anything to do with honoring our service men and women, as well as our first responders and essential workers.

Participants will meet at the Fisherman Restaurant parking lot before 1 p.m.

After participants complete the lap around Noank they will end go back down Marsh Road to the Fisherman parking lot to allow for a safe traffic flow to disperse back home.

All who watch are encouraged to ring bells in support of the community. The watchers are encouraged to practice safe social distancing and wear masks.

Organizers said the following:

"In accordance with CDC regulations and the Governor's executive orders, viewing of the rally must take place from residences/private property; all executive orders requiring social distancing and PPE that are in effect on 5/23/2020 must be respected.

"This is not a parade but just a suggestion that we honor the Noank tradition while respecting all governmental regulations and restrictions due to the Convid 19 epidemic. Please do not congregate outside of your vehicles in numbers that violate the restrictions. This is a community event and not organized or sanctioned by any person or group. Thank you for your cooperation."
