Obituary: Betty K. Burge, 91, Of Groton

GROTON, CT — Betty K. Burge, born July 7, 1926, was called to be with her husband and children in Heaven on Friday, March 9, 2018 in Groton. She was surrounded by family.

Betty was a loving, kind, friendly person that loved everyone. Her interests included beating the fairs at their games, Bingo, playing Canasta and watching her beloved Yankees.

She is survived by her three children Karon Dolan, and her husband Richard, of Groton, her son Craig Burge, and his wife Suzan, of Stonington, and her daughter Kathy Point, and her partner Harry Perkins, of Pawcatuck. She is also survived by her stepsister Sharon Hughes, and husband Eugene, of Watertown, NY.

She adored all of her children immensely and leaves behind eleven grandchildren and dozens of great grandchildren. Betty was predeceased by her husband Edward Burge, her brother Homer Forbes, her son Edward Burge, Jr. and her daughter Karol Tootell.

People stand out for a lot of reasons, but Betty stood out for all the best reasons.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Byles-Groton Memorial Home (310 Thames Street, Groton). A funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 14 at 1 p.m. at Byles-Groton Memorial Home. Burial will follow in Starr Cemetery in Groton.

In lieu of flowers donations in Betty’s name may be made to Beacon Hospice (111 Founders Plaza #1803, East Harford, CT, 06108).
