James E. Dockins, 78, of Groton passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at Fairview in Groton.
Born on December 30, 1938, he was the son of Earl and Lois (Smith) Dockins.

Mr. Dockins served in the United States Navy for over 20 years during the Vietnam Era. He married Barbara Faye Dockins on February 16, 1959. She passed away in 2014.
He is survived by his son Dewayne Dockins, of New London; and his grandson Dylan J. Dockins; and Deborah Grace.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Byles Memorial Home, 99 Huntington Street, New London. Burial with military honors will follow in Avery Stoddard Cemetery.
