Obituary: ​Myrtis Irene Donovan, 91, of Groton

Myrtis Irene Donovan, 91, of Groton passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital.

Myrtis was born on September 1, 1925, in Anderson, South Carolina the daughter of Mary and Lon Porter.

She is predeceased by her husband Leroy Donovan who passed in 2005 and five siblings, Horace, Edward, Addie Mae, Olli Belle and Mary Jane. She is survived by her son, Donald and his wife Linda, of Ledyard; granddaughter Tanya Flushman and her husband Michael, and three great grandchildren, Henry, Eliza and Sylvia of San Luis Obispo, CA. She also leaves her sister Velma Gunter of Hartwell, GA and brother, William of Anderson, SC and nieces and nephews in South Carolina and Georgia; and the extended family members in Groton who she loved dearly and who have been an integral part of her 91 years.

Her family would like to personally thank the New London Rehabilitation Center of Waterford, Lawrence and Memorial staff of 5.2 and 6.2 and the Vitas Hospice team of Glastonbury for taking care of Myrtis during her long illness.

A graveside service will be held at Smith Lake Cemetery in Groton, on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 11:00 am. There are no visiting hours.
