Oil Change Facility Proposed For Town Of Groton Site

The Planning and Zoning Commission is reviewing plans for a Take 5 oil change facility at a Long Hill Road site.

GROTON, CT — A Take 5 oil change facility has been proposed for a Groton site and is under consideration by the Planning & Zoning Commission.

The facility is being proposed for 671 Long Hill Road. The former restaurant site is nearby to a Wendy's and across the street from the Groton Shopping Center, which is home to T.J. Maxx and Aldi.

The commission reviewed the site plans at its Dec. 12 meeting and had "a number of concerns regarding the on-site circulation and suggested the applicant review a number of driveway location options with the DOT that could eliminate potential conflicts," according to town documents.

The applicant then revised the site plans after evaluating four options with the DOT. The end result was a one-way in driveway and a one-way exit.

The goal was to minimize cross traffic of entering and exiting vehicles, according to the documents.

The project is on a .89-acre site with a paved parking lot. The existing building will be replaced with a 1,710-square-foot single-story building used for quick lube and oil changes.

New pavement and a parking area will be added.

The project was on the Planning & Zoning Commission's meeting agenda for Wednesday, Jan. 24.
