One Person Dead in Groton After Powerful Storm [UPDATE]

A powerful storm early Tuesday morning is cited as the likely reason why a person died at the scene of what was thought to be a tree falling on a car.

As the investigation continues, police are not certain if the tree fell on the vehicle or if the tree was struck by the car, NBC CT reported.

The accident occurred at Flanders Road and Route 1 in the Mystic section of Groton and is still under investigation. According to NBC Connecticut, Flanders Road is closed.
