Panera Bread Expanding Services, Hiring Delivery Staffers in Groton
Panera this week announced it was expanding and adding staff at several locations in Connecticut.

Panera Bread is expanding its delivery business and that means it is hiring in several locations in Hartford County and in one coastline community.
Rhode Island-based Howley Bread Group, which operates several Panera franchises in the state, announced this week that it is looking for delivery staffers.

The Panera Bread brand can be traced back to 1981 with the prominence of the Au Bon Pain chain. In 1993, Au Bon Pain purchased Saint Louis Bread Company, a chain of 20 bakery-cafes located in the St. Louis area.

In May 1999, all of Au Bon Pain's business units were sold, with the exception of Panera Bread, and the parent company was renamed Panera Bread in addition to the franchise brand, company officials said.
The company's market capitalization totals about of $4.5 billion, according to company officials.
