Pleasant Valley Elementary Says Goodbye To Last Fifth Grade Class
Pleasant Valley Elementary in Groton recently promoted its last fifth grade class before closing this week.

GROTON, CT - Pleasant Valley Elementary in Groton closed Thursday following a decision made by the district, the New London Day reported. The school promoted its last fifth grade class Tuesday afternoon during a ceremony.
The district had decided to close Pleasant Valley after officials determined they could not afford to keep it open, according to the New London Day. The school's 300 students have either chosen to attend magnet schools or have otherwise been reassigned. (To sign up for Groton breaking news alerts and more, click here.)
Teachers and staff will also be moving to new schools, while some are still awaiting assignments, the New London day reported. Pleasant Valley Elementary was built in the 1950's.
