Police Announces Road Closures For Mystic Irish 5K
Several roads in Mystic will face closures and backups Saturday morning.
GROTON, CT — The Town of Groton Police Department announced a traffic alert and road closures in the Mystic area on Saturday, March 21, from 8 a.m. to noon because of the annual Mystic Irish 5K Road Race.
The race will start and finish on Pearl Street. Pearl Street will be closed between Clift Street and West Main Street from 8 a.m. until the end of the race, according to the police department.
Clift Street, Grove Avenue, Starr Street and Gravel Street also will see road closures and traffic backups shortly before the race begins at 10 a.m. The announcement said those closures are expected to last a short time.

Access to River Road from Bindloss Road and Route 27 will close shortly before the start of the race and will reopen as soon as safety permits, according to the police department.
The event is sponsored by the Town of Groton Parks and Recreation Department.
