Police: Groton Long Point Woman, 79, Drowned Sunday

GROTON LONG POINT, CT—Police have confirmed that the woman who drowned Sunday afternoon was Judith Roure, 79, of Beach Road.

According to Groton Long Point police, emergency personnel were called to a reported drowning near South Shore Avenue, South Dock at around 3:15 on Sunday.

First responders including police, Groton Long Point and Noank fire departments, Lawrence + Memorial paramedics and Mystic River ambulance personnel responded and initiated rescue efforts. Roure was transported to L+M Hospital where she was pronounced dead, police said.
