Puppy Lost at Sea Found in Connecticut, Returned to Family

The family had presumed the dog could not swim and had drowned.

Groton, CT — A puppy that was lost off the coast of Noank was found Sunday in Groton and returned to its family, Fox 61 reported.

The family was boating when their 8-month Shiba Inu puppy, Ryder, fell overboard into the ocean after slipping from his harness, according to Fox 61. They were unable to find him after backtracking for hours, even getting the Coast Guard involved.

The family had presumed their young dog had drowned, as they did not think he could swim, but they put out Facebook notice just in case, according to Fox 61. Someone later reached out from a Groton lost-and-found page, saying Ryder had been found swimming in the middle of the water and was pulled to shore.
