GROTON, CT -- A rare jellyfish that can cause severe pain has recently been spotted in Groton, Fox 61 reported.
Called the clinging jellyfish, the creature has not been seen in New England for years, according to Fox 61. This breed of jellyfish can cause severe pain, rashes, severe dermatitis and joint pain.
Clinging jellyfish typically hang out in eelgrass and other vegetation, making them mainly a danger for people clamming or swimming at night, Fox 61 reported. A man was recently stung and taken to the ER while swimming in Mumford Cove.
