Rep. John Scott Responds in Strong Support to Supreme Court Rule for Same-Sex Marriage Nationwide

Scott represents the 40th district covering Groton and Ledyard.

HARTFORD – Today the Supreme Court ruled 5-4 in favor of same-sex marriage. The new civil right law made the United States the 21st country to legalize such unions nationwide, prohibiting any one of the 50 states from banning same-sex marriage.

“I applaud today’s Supreme Court decision supporting the rights of all to marry who they love, regardless of their gender,” said State Representative John Scott (R-Ledyard & Groton). “I’m proud that federal law will now mirror the positive steps we took in Connecticut years ago.”
