Rotary Club of the Stoningtons Held 23rd Tournament for Charity

Rotary Club of the Stoningtons raises funds for the community providing financial support and assistance to over 30 local charities.

The 23rd Annual Golf Tournament was held recently at Fishers Island Club by the Rotary Club of the Stoningtons. The tournament is held each year as their contribution to the community providing financial support (approximately $30,000) and assistance to over 30 local charitable community organizations, as well as some international charitable foundations.

This year, the Tournament was dedicated to their Charter Member Les Duncklee, one of the original founding members and past president. “My father was very active in the Rotary Club of the Stoningtons, and was to be the next President of the Rotary Club of the Stoningtons, but passed away just before this planned event, so the Club dedicated the tournament to him,” said son Jonathan Duncklee. Les Duncklee was the founder of their family business Duncklee Cooling and Heating located in Stonington, CT. One of their prime focuses of the Club is their good work in the communities, which was one of Les Duncklee’s most admirable traits and why they chose to honor him this year.

This local Rotary Club was formed in 1990, and became focused on the two towns of Stonington and North Stonington three years later. The Club has been rated #1 in the District (with 60 Clubs), for outstanding achievements, while being one of the smallest clubs in the District, but strong in spirit and commitment. The members meet weekly and enjoy fellowship over breakfast while listening to engaging speakers. The Club meets every Friday at 7am at the Stonington Human Services building at 166 South Broad Street, Pawcatuck, CT, near the Stonington High School.
