Sad News in Noank

Last week, we were sad to learn that Phyliss Littlefield had passed away suddenly in her sleep. Her obituary was carried in last Sunday's NL DAY and her Memorial Service is at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at the Noank Baptist Church.

In the past 48 hours, sadly, two long-time Noank residents have also just passed away.

We lost William Borden, a US Navy Veteran, yesterday morning at the nursing home where he had been staying. His obituary will appear in the next few days and funeral/memorial arrangements are in process. I spoke with his wife, Cynthia, late this afternoon.

Then, this morning, Cynthia Borden's sister, Joan Latham, passed away at L & M Hospital. Her obituary and arrangements are still being arranged. I spoke with her husband Richard, our retired Noank Fire Chief, a short while ago.

The Borden and Latham families were very close, which makes this news so very difficult for all family members, especially for Cynthia.
